Reflections

How has your network changed the way you learn? I don’t think that my networks have changed the way I learn. I think that my networks have enhanced the way I learn. I believe that my network enables me to learn more by connecting me with others who are like minded and can add to my knowledge of a particular subject.

Which digital tools best facilitate learning for you? The best digital tools for me are webinars, digital presentations, like power points and video. I retain the information better through visual and interactive tools.

How do you gain new knowledge when you have questions? I laughed when I read this question because my family knows that if I had a question about anything, I had a book in my library to answer that question. With the creation of the internet, now, the first thing I do when I have a question is start a search, I usually go to “Google.”

In what ways does your personal learning network support or refute the central tenets of connectivism? Dr. Seimans stated in the video in this weeks resources that, “our networks are incredibly rich now, whether it’s a mobile phone, whether it’s a computer, whether it’s access to a database, but we’re seeing a significant explosion in how we start to connect with other people but also how we connect with data sources.”

My personal learning network supports connectivism, because I use the network to connect with other people, for work, to increase my skills and to increase my knowledge. As humans we all need to make connections with others to continue to grow and learn. This learning is facilitated through the network which gives different inputs or knowledge depending on the source. I found this quote on the website “Connectivism,” “As “Learning may reside in non-human appliances. Learning (in the sense that something is known, but not necessarily actuated) can rest in a community, a network, or a database.”
